  • The allowable eccentric load of the cylinder is verified to see whether the cylinder can withstand the load.
  • Cylinder capacity
    • Conditional value: cylinder inner diameter 12mm, operating air pressure 0.5MPa, total mass of ionizer nozzle part M = 0.9kg
    • Cylinder thrust: F0 = 42N (from catalog)
    • From applied load: F1 = M x 9.8N, F1 = 0.9 x 9.8 = 8.82N
    • If we assume that the load is evenly applied to the center of the ionizer nozzle -> eccentric distance of load: 73mm
    • Allowable eccentric load: F2 = 15N (from catalog of FA mechanical standard parts)
      -> Safety factor: F2/F1 = 15/8.82 = 1.7

Other Design Consideration

  • While attaching the lower nozzle frame on the duct, a plate is placed in between to center the nozzle and adjust vertical positioning.
  • In order to allow a fan to be installed at the lowermost part of the assembly, the base is lifted with blocks.
