Power Cables
Power cables are used in many different residential and industrial applications, including general wiring and high-voltage wiring, to transmit electricity. Materials used in the wiring are good conductors such as copper, copper alloys and aluminum. Power cables come in 2 types, one for transmitting high current and one for transmitting low current, and are also available with insulation coating on the conductor. The cross-linked polyethylene vinyl sheathed cable (XLPE cables) is found in a wide range of general applications, such as general residential buildings, commercial buildings, schools and hospitals, industrial domains (research facilities and factories) and firefighting equipment. The VVF cable and IV cable are available as low-voltage cables for use in applications of 600 V or less. Power cables that are made without cadmium, lead, halogen, etc., are called EM ("eco-material") wires.
