SHIMS

Components used to level or compensate a very small difference in thickness, that is why we have a selection of options that can be adjusted to your requirements.

Applications

Industrial shims have various applications in the industrial field, some of which are:

  • Machinery Adjustment and Alignment: Shims are used to level and align machinery components such as motors, pumps, compressors, and generators. Placed between the base of the machine and the ground, or between the moving and stationary parts of the machine, to ensure smooth and precise operation.

  • Adjustment of spaces and tolerances: Shims are used to adjust the distance or space between components in industrial assemblies. This can include placing shims between metal parts to achieve specific tolerances or compensate for misalignments.

  • Automotive Applications: Shims are used in vehicle manufacturing and maintenance to adjust clearance and alignment of components such as brakes, suspensions, and transmission systems.

Example CIMSS15-0.5

In this example the shims are being used to give the air
cylinder a small lift so it can be level with the shaft and pillow
blocks.

Types

MISUMI shims / shims are configurable, which makes them adaptable to the specific needs of your application. This includes the dimensions, types of shim, materials, among others.

Tape

Shims that meet the North American Automotive Metric Standards or NAAMS for its acronym in English.

Work to raise the engine so that it can be level with the arrow.

Can be configured with dimensions up to 1000mm X 300mm for larger structures.

Used to level bushings or collars to the desired length.

This option comes in a roll form which can easily be cut to length as required to level smaller components.

Configurable

Fully configurable model, all dimensions with blue letters can be modified at the user’s choice

Selectable length (L)

50 mm to 70 mm (1.96” a 2.75”)

Shim thickness (T)

Distance between slots (P)

30 mm to 50 mm (1.18” a 1.96”)

Materials

Shims or shims can be made from a variety of materials, depending on the application requirements and operating conditions.
