Drives for DC power are ideal for smaller motors (NEMA sizes 11, 14, 17, 23), when physical space is limited around the drive, and when multiple drives are used on a common power supply. AC powered drives are best for larger motors (NEMA sizes 23, 24 and 34) and when maximimum power is required.
