SHAFT SUPPORTS

A shaft support is a component used in the industrial sector to hold and provide support for a shaft in a machine or equipment. Its main function is to keep the shaft in its correct position and allow its smooth and stable rotation.

Applications

  • Industrial automation: Essential in robotic systems, automated transport systems and assembly equipment. Provide solid support allowing precise and reliable movement of loads and components. We recommend that you consult the technical specifications for detailed information on the available options. In this assembly example, we see how the machine must position a part on the X and Y axes of the roller bed.

  • Packaging: Used to support and align the axes of machines, such as packaging and labeling machines. These stands guarantee smooth and precise operation of the machines, ensuring efficient and reliable production.

  • Food industry: Provide stable and secure support for the shafts that drive food processing and handling equipment, ensuring smooth movement and efficient processing.

  • Pharmaceutical industry: Provide a solid and stable support for the shafts that operate in chemical and pharmaceutical environments, guaranteeing a safe and reliable operation of the equipment.

Types

Flanged

T-Shaped

L-Shaped

Square

Round

  • Flanged: Provide support and guidance to a linear motion system.

  • T-Shaped: Provide support and guidance to linear motion systems along a shaft. It is called “T-shaped” because its design resembles the letter “T,” with a horizontal section and a vertical section.

  • L-Shaped: The vertical upright of the L-shape support is used for mounting it to a suitable surface, frame, or structure.

  • Square: Compared to the conventional T-shaped type, L dimension is compact.

  • Round: Space saving due to its compact form.

SHAPES

MISUMI shaft supports are configurable and available in a wide variety of shapes that seek to adapt to different requirements to provide the ideal solution, with its specific features and advantages.

Features and Functions

  • Structural support: Provide a point of support for the axis. Mounted to a fixed surface, such as a base or machine frame, and hold the shaft in its proper position.

  • Position adjustment: Used to adjust the position of components on an axis. By sliding the collar along the shaft, the relative position of the component can be modified to achieve proper alignment, correct spacing, or necessary fit on a machine or equipment.

  • Shaft Alignment : Allows for proper alignment of the shaft in relation to other components and systems on the machine. This is crucial to ensure efficient operation and avoid problems such as excessive vibration and premature bearing wear.

  • Easy adjustment and mounting: Usually have mounting holes and screws that allow a quick and secure installation on the machine frame.

  • Bearing mounting: Shaft supports are designed to house bearings or bearings. These bearings sit inside the housing and fit around the shaft, allowing the shaft to rotate smoothly with a minimum of friction.

  • Vibration and Shock Absorption : This contributes to longer component life and smoother, quieter operation.

Dimensions

Hole diameters (D) compatible with most millimeter and inch shaft measurements on the market.

Dimension (H) configurable to adjust assembly height.

Inside diameter (D)

from 3 to 1050mm (1/8″ to 1 -1/2″)

Materials

  • Carbon Steel : A material commonly used in the manufacture of shaft supports due to its strength and durability. Steel offers excellent resistance to loads and impact, making it suitable for applications that require high strength and rigidity. Available with surface finish: Blued or Nickel plated without electrodes.

  • Stainless Steel : In environments that involve exposure to moisture, corrosion, or other chemicals, shaft mounts made of stainless steel are ideal. Stainless steel has a high resistance to corrosion and offers excellent durability in harsh conditions.

  • Aluminum : A strong, lightweight material used where weight is an important consideration. Aluminum is known for its high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for applications that require low weight and good heat dissipation. Available with surface finish: Clear Anodized or Dark Anodized.
