Linear Motion
LINEAR GUIDES
A linear guide is a component used in engineering and machinery to provide precise and smooth linear motion through the use of rails or rails and sliding blocks.
We have standard and miniature linear guides, the main differences being size, load capacity, precision and speed.
APPLICATIONS
Linear guides are used in a wide variety of industrial applications and here a re some examples:
Example SSE2B13-470| MISUMI inCAD Library
In this application we see a manual sample inspection system.
The linear guides support and allow precise sliding of the
base containing the specimens.
FEATURES
Linear guides offer several special features that make them suitable for a wide variety of applications.
- Accuracy: Provide highly accurate linear motion by using high quality bearing systems and rails to minimize friction and ensure smooth, backlash-free travel. At MISUMI, we have different degrees of precision: Standard, Medium, High and Extra.
- Stiffness: Offer high stiffness in the linear direction, allowing efficient loading and acceleration. This is especially important in applications where precise positioning and fast dynamic response are required.
- Load carrying capacity: Can support both radial and axial loads. Can support heavy loads and distribute the load evenly along the rails, making them ideal for applications involving high load movements.
- Low friction: Help minimize friction during movement. This reduces the energy required for movement and improves overall system efficiency. Low friction also contributes to a longer service life of the guide components.
- Vibration reduction: Help reduce vibration and noise during movement. The design of the bearings and rails, together with the use of high quality materials, contributes to smooth and quiet movement.
- Long maintenance and service life: Linear guides are generally durable components with a long service life. Require minimal maintenance and are resistant to wear and corrosion. This makes them a reliable choice for industrial and automation applications.
AVAILABLE DIMENSIONS
Series | Size H (mm) | Rail length L (mm) |
---|---|---|
Miniature Linear Guides | 6-20 | 699 |
Standard Linear Guides | 15-36 | 960 |
The assembly height (H) defines the size of the linear guide. The rest of the dimensions would already be standardized. Miniature linear guides are only sold as an assembly (block + rail), unlike standard linear guides which can be sold block and rail separately.
Configurable assembly height (H) in standard
and flanged blocks
The G and F measurements are not configurable.
MATERIALS
Our linear guides can be manufactured in carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on application requirements and operating conditions.
- Carbon steel: It is one of the most widely used materials in the construction of linear guides due to its strength, durability and ability to withstand heavy loads. The steel is usually heat-treated to improve its hardness and wear resistance.
- Stainless steel: Known for its corrosion resistance, making it an ideal choice for wet or corrosive environments. Stainless steel linear guides are common in applications for the food, medical and chemical industries.
